VP500-100 Overview
The VP500-100 is designed for HDMI digital video sources. When the source is non-HDCP (which are typically PC or Laptop) the VP500-100 converts signal at full resolution. When the source is HDCP (which are typically Blu ray disk or HD programming), the VP500-100 reduces the number of colors and resolution of the output signal. Altinex is an adopter of both HDMI and HDCP and complies with all applicable requirements. The VP500-100 has a smart conversion algorithm to best fit the picture into the available screen size. In some cases, the image may have black bands on the sides or on top and bottom. This is a normal part of the signal conversion and cannot be adjusted.
Summary
The VP500-100 is an HDMI to VGA video converter which is compliant with digital video standards. The VP500-100 works with HD-DVD, Blu-ray, Playstation 3, etc. The VGA output connector is a standard 15-pin HD M that connects directly to the input of the VGA display. The video output supports all resolutions up to 1920×1080/60Hz.
In addition to the HDMI to VGA video conversion, the VP500-100 also detects and outputs the audio from the HDMI signal in both analog and digital/optical audio formats.
The VP500-100 is small and lightweight; it can easily be installed behind a display or connected directly to the display input. In most cases, the converter receives its power directly from the HDMI source over the HDMI cable. In the event the source does not supply power, or supplies insufficient power, a +5 VDC power adapter is provided. The adapter is very small with a slim-profile protruding less than 1 inch from the wall outlet.
